(Rapid City, SD) – The Rapid City Rush added two more vital components to their 2011-12 roster today, inking center Colin Circelli and defenseman Jarred Mohr. Circelli is one year removed from scoring 37 goals for the Odessa Jackalopes while Mohr is an all-star blueliner who spent the last two seasons with the Laredo Bucks.

“We’re very excited about today’s announcements,” said Rush Head Coach Joe Ferras. “Colin gives us a huge amount of firepower up front while Jarred vastly improves our back end. Our main objective this offseason was retooling our back end. With the addition of Couch, Grimaldi and now Mohr, we have a very strong blue line. ”

Circelli is a 29-year old native of Oshawa, Ontario who suited up for Karlskrona HK in Sweden last season. While playing overseas, Circelli potted 16 goals and 24 assists 37 contests.

“Colin is a tremendous skater and distributes the puck very well,” stated Ferras. “Getting Colin instantly solidifies us down the middle and gives us great offensive depth. He’s a character kid with real sneaky speed and tremendous hockey sense.”

Prior to jumping the pond, the 6-foot 185-pound Circelli played two full seasons for the Odessa Jackalopes where he posted impressive numbers. From 2008-2010, the center racked up 63 goals and 58 assists for 121 total points in 126 games played. The left-hand shooting Circelli turned pro in 2007-08, beginning his career with the Wichita before joining the Jackalopes after eight games. In all, Circelli has appeared in 202 professional games and has 173 total points (86g, 87a).

“We’ve got a lot of good players here in Rapid,” said Circelli. “There are a number of new guys and it will just be a matter of coming together. We have lot of talent gathered here and I expect a very good year for this hockey club. You can tell Rapid City is a first class organization from top to bottom. The facilities and set up are very nice and the organization is just well run. Of course, the atmosphere for a player is great being able to play in front of a sold out crowd, and hopefully we give the fans a long run.”

Prior to turning pro, Circelli played four years of college hockey at St. Francis Xavier University, where during his freshman year, skated in front of Rush goaltender Danny Battochio.

Mohr, 26, makes his way to the Black Hills after spending the last two seasons playing for the Laredo Bucks.

“We’re very excited to have player of Mohr’s caliber,” said Rush Assistant Coach Mark DeSantis. “I played against him while he was in Rocky Mountain and I’ve been able to see him the past two seasons in Laredo. I like his game, the way he competes and he plays with a fire in his belly. I think there’s a lot more to his game that I can hopefully bring out. He’s a fantastic skater with great speed and I’m looking for him to join the rush and display the offensive capabilities that I know he has.”

In two years in south Texas, Mohr appeared in 125 games, potting 16 goals and 41 assists for 57 points to go along with 108 penalty minutes. In 2009-10, Mohr was selected to the 2010 South Texas All-Star Team, which was held in Laredo.

“I think it’s going to be great to join such a great team and solid organization,” said Mohr. “From the front office to the players, I’m extremely excited to be a part of such a first class group. So far, the town has been beautiful. The fans and people here are very passionate about their team and extremely welcoming. I can’t want to begin the season and my time here in the Black Hills.”

In his first season in the CHL, Mohr played 63 games for then division rival, the Rocky Mountain Rage, totaling 21 points that year.

Entering his 6th pro season, Mohr spent his rookie campaign in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) splitting time between the Cincinnati Cyclones and Pensacola Ice Pilots. The Regina, Saskatchewan native then made his way to the International Hockey League’s (IHL) Kalamazoo Wings for the 2007-08 season.

Overall, Mohr has 297 professional games under his belt and exactly 100 points (22g, 78a) to go along with 244 penalty minutes.

The Rush begin training camp this Monday, October 10th at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
