When Duke and Wichita State come calling they’re bound to jump to the top of any player’s list. This is the case for Stevens Raiders wide receiver, Alex Litzen, and Post 22 pitcher, Tanner Chleborad. This week Chleborad was contacted by Wichita State and Litzen talked with Duke. Shortly after they both contacted IDS and said they had new colleges to put at the top of their list; a signal to the rest of the schools vying for these two top local athletes that there is going to be some serious competition if they want them in their programs. Litzen wrote a blog about the development of speaking with Duke.
Litzen: “Duke contacted me the other day and I was definitely excited about that. I am putting them as my number one because obviously they are the biggest school that has contacted me so far. Getting a full ride scholarship to a team that plays in the ACC is a big excitement for me. Playing at a big D1-A school has always been my dream. When I talked to the coach he said they are looking for a bigger, athletic receiver that could possibly play a split out tight end. I knew that at a higher level of play such as the ACC I would probably have to convert to a tight end but in their offense the tight end is usually split out to get match ups against not as athletic linebackers. That is the role they are looking at me for and I am very excited for this opportunity.”
