It appears that the power struggle concerning the future of Post 22 baseball has been put to rest, and that the Board of Directors of Baseball Parents, Inc. has developed a plan for the selection of a new head coach of the baseball program with the support of the American Legion Post 22.

Two weeks ago, representatives of American Legion appeared at a meeting of the Board of Directors of Baseball Parents, Inc. with a list of demands concerning the future relationship between American Legion Post 22 and the baseball program. The principal demand was the creation of a special committee to select the new head baseball coach. This committee was to be made up of retired Post 22 coach Dave Ploof, American Legion liaison John Wheeler, and one other person. The Legion also demanded changes in the composition of the Board of Directors of Baseball Parents, Inc.. On Thursday night, American Legion backed off its demands, accepted the selection plan of Baseball Parents, Inc., and stated: “It is fully expected that the hiring of the new head coach will satisfy the American Legion Post 22′s position, and the American Legion will continue with 100 percent support of the program and the promotion of Post 22 baseball.”

Baseball Parents, Inc. will select the new head coach for the program in the next month. The final plan is as follows:

1. The head coaching position will be advertised for 14 days.
2. The Baseball Parents, Inc. Board of Directors will then review the resumes of applicants, and create a “master candidate list” comprised of up to six final candidates. The review process will be five days.
3. Dave Ploof, now Director of Baseball Operations, will then conduct a “due diligence review” of the final six candidates and report back to the Board with his opinion within five days.
4. The Board of Directors will conduct interviews of the candidates, which will be completed within five days.
5. After the interviews, the Baseball Parents, Inc. Board of Directors will select the new head coach two days later, and an offer will be made.

The new Post 22 head coach will replace the retiring Dave Ploof as a member of the Baseball Parents, Inc. Board of Directors and will choose the assistant coaching staff with the review and consent of the Board.

“We’ve come to a resolution on the selection of the head coach, and I feel confident that we will have great candidates to select from, and we will find a very qualified coaching staff,” said Baseball Parents, Inc. President Brian Chleborad. “With the coaching options available, I know we will continue the tradition excellence.”

Background checks of the entire finalized coaching staff will also be required.
